SHORT BIOGRAPHY: Virginia Bianchetti was born in Rieti in 1961 and typical of her-is continuously on the move between her studios in Rome and in Rieti. Ever since she was a child she would spend her free time drawing images that struck her as interesting and was most happy when she was given new crayons, paints or other colorful tools.

At the early age of 18, out of curiosity and love for adventure, she travelled throughout South America where she met many people and had so many new experiences. This journey marked her in such a way as to make her take up painting seriously.

At the age of 22 she moved to the splendid city of Palermo in Sicily, where she got her degree in sports science. She then founded the “Associazione Culturale Metropolis” in order to help the young artists of the eighties to emerge.

In 1994 she returned to Rome and of course to Rieti, which to her is a never ending source of inspiration because of its wonderful landscape. Never fully satisfied of her work, she often travels  to Sicily constantly on the look out for new stimuli–both visual and cultural–dreaming of ever more beautiful paintings.

Paolo Levi
Through the use of various subjects, be they still life or landscapes suspended between the abstract and the figurative, Virginia Bianchetti leads the observer into a world where the contours have been re-designed in an enthralling dance between realism and imagination. The artist, whose skills allow her to experiment with a wide variety of materials, uses bright and vibrant colours to express herself and the results are of an impressive visual effect.

Her hand, driven by her creativity, either softens the colours or creates strong contrasts that are always marked by a certain sharpness. Bianchetti hints at reality in a prospective that gives it a certain poetic frivolousness in order to show us how it’s possible to re-invent one’s everyday life.
In her tireless search for beauty the painter combines vision and emotions using strokes as tools to capture the intimacy of the soul.

F. Minerva
Through her paintings the artist, Virginia Bianchetti, is able to open many meaningful debates concerning sociocultural and artistic themes. Her inborn talent reflects truths about today’s society in a truly unique and noteworthy manner. Virginia is worthy of both the public’s and the critics’ esteem not only because her works are proof of her ongoing research of expression, but also because the admirer is prodded into reflecting upon his/her existence. Her works throb with alternating colors, lights and shadows, making up for paintings not only emblematic but also poetic.
